Companies, such as WestatHome.com only require that each person work 1/2 hour intervals at a time. A West-at-Home agent would simply schedule the hours they want to work and if for some reason they are not able to work those hours, they would delete them or trade them to other work-at-home-agents. Pay ranges from approximately $6.79- $15.oo an hour with additional bonuses depending on the job you are doing. Contractxchange.com is a Canadian company that is still pending to be approved in Florida. They are paying between $12.00 and $30.00 approximately an hour. We will keep you updated on their Florida state approval. Other financial benefits include: savings on gas because of not having to commute, not having to purchase a work wardrobe, not having to buy lunch outside of the house daily, etc. Of course having the freedom to stay at home to care for children, elderly or for any reason that makes working outside of the home difficult, is priceless.

What you need to work at home

The companies I have posted are "telecommuting" companies. Telecommuting is the term used to describe commuting to work via the telephone line. So, you don't have to leave your house to telecommute.

You will need:

1) a computer

2) internet access

3) phone service with features turned off; meaning turn off call-waiting, voicemail, etc. Some companies require an unlimited long distance plan.

Typing speeds generally range between 20-65 wpm. Sometimes this is tested, sometimes not. If you want to check your typing speed, you can test your typing speed for free at the following website:

Your computer needs to meet certain criteria, such as:

Computer Type: PC compatible ( no Macs usually)
Internet Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or Higher
Monitor Size: 15 inches or greater
Minimum OS Version: Windows XP or Windows 2000 version
Minimum RAM: 128 MB (256 MB highly recommended - On Windows XP, 256MB minimum
Minimum Processor Type: AMD Athlon, AMD Duron, Celeron or Pentium III or better
Minimum Processor Speed: 800 MHz or better
